Recycled Teddy Bear (stripe)

If you’ve seen the Bee&Sons bears on insta you’ll know that I started out making bears after my dad died – when I saved some of his old clothes to sew into keepsakes. It’s a little bit of him to cuddle – and the slightly threadbare bit on one bear’s tummy is where my dad’s elbow used to rest on the arm of his chair while he watched Judge Judy – favourite TV show (he loved a strong-minded woman).

It gave me an idea of how to use up some of the old panels of knitting donated to my recycling stash by my knitters in Mansfield. Most of the panels have either suffered a mishap on the machine or not gone into production – so there’s not a lot wrong with them except that they didn’t get sewn into jumpers. You’ll see that we have cleverly laid out our pattern pieces to make the most of each left-over panel – and used the offcuts to stuff the bears and make them nice and round. We’ve used spare buttons for eyes and old cones of wool to sew smiley mouths.
